Groupwise 6.5 to Exchange 2007

Moving from  Groupwise 6.5 to Exchange 2007  is not easy. Microsoft migration tools for Groupwise are discontinued in Exchange 2007 and the only one that can support this type of migration in Full is Intercore Technologies, Inc. We have done at least 10 migrations so far this year and we have it done pat.

We have a process in place. Since the Groupwise connector is not available anymore, the following information is helpful. First Groupwise migrated to 2003 and then migrate to Exchange 2007. You may want to migrate all the Groupwise mailboxes to the Exchange 2003 server as the first stage of the project and then perform the much simpler task of moving mailboxes to the Exchange 2007 server as the final stage.

Some things to remember. If you have already installed a pure Exchange 2007 oraganization, unfortunately you are out of luck.  You can't install an Exchange 2003 server into the org and get it to work. If you haven't deployed any Exchange servers yet, you can build a Exchange 2003 server first into the org, then add an Exchange 2007 server to the mix.  This will allow for usability of the 03 Exchange System Manager or ESM as well as editing ability to the objects.

Depending on the size of the organization you can choose to do the following type of local migration from groupwise client to outlook. You can painfully use the Outlook snapin for GroupWise and port the mail to a pst file, than merge it back into Exchange.  Certainly slow, an very tedious and in some cases it will fail on a user by user basis.

So when you are ready to move forward with your Groupwise 6.5 to Exchange 2007 Migration gives us a call. 888-603-6333 x89
